Oct 11th 2006: Stevenson made
it through the qualifying tournament for the 50k Challenger event in San Francisco, CA, winning three consecutive matches
for the first time in over three and a half years (the last time she achieved this feat was when she reached the semi finals
of the now defunct State Farm Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona in March 2003). In the first round she easily defeated Columbian
Paula Zabala 60 62, then beat a fellow American; 15 year old wildcard Stacey Tan 61 46 63 and in the final round
beat another American in the form of Aleke Tsoubanos 62 64. Stevenson is now rewarded with a a first round clash with
the sixth seed Lilia OSterloh, another American ranked 107 in the world. Stevenson also improves her win loss record of 2006
to 10-15.
